Baz – Your AI Code Review Agent – Welcome to boldstart!

At Boldstart, we thrive on partnering from Inception with visionary technical founders who are reimagining the enterprise stack. In a world where more and more code is AI generated, we see immense opportunities to reinvent how developers and teams interact with this avalanche of code and stay in the flow state. This is why we are thrilled to back Baz, founded by Guy Eisenkot and Nimrod Kor. Baz raised an $8M Inception round co-led by boldstart ventures and Battery Ventures with Vermillion Ventures, Secret Chord Ventures, and Fusion VC joining.
Pull requests are essential yet often tedious. While AI tools like copilots generate code, they’ve left developers struggling to evaluate the AI’s output effectively. Baz solves this with its purpose-built AI agent, Reviewer, which analyzes code intelligently, ensuring that changes align with established conventions and do not introduce breaking issues.
Imagine a partner in code review that never gets tired, never misses a detail, and always applies the same high standard, no matter how complex or repetitive the task. It processes changes with unwavering focus, analyzing every potential impact on APIs and ensuring conventions are applied consistently. This reviewer doesn’t need breaks, doesn’t lose context, always aligned with your team’s conventions, and never grows frustrated with tedious fixes. It’s always ready, delivering fast, reliable feedback that helps developers focus on what they do best: building great software.
Baz is bringing that vision to life by combining advanced AI, application behavior data, telemetry, and programmatic software verification to transform code reviews. By embedding real-time insights into the review process, Baz empowers development teams to work faster, collaborate better, and deploy more confidently.
The Problem: More Code, More Complexity
As AI-generated code becomes more prevalent, developers face an unprecedented surge in code volume. However, not all AI-generated code is created equal. In many cases, these outputs are inconsistent, conflict with established patterns, or fail to account for the nuances of real-world application behavior. This creates a significant bottleneck for engineering teams, requiring more manual reviews and increasing the likelihood of errors slipping into production. Traditional manual methods can no longer keep up, leading to slower shipping cycles and frustrated teams. The solution is clear: only AI has the speed and intelligence to tackle the challenges it has helped create. By combining deep code analysis with application behavior insights, Baz enables developers to manage this growing complexity, empowering them to ship code faster and with confidence.
Why Baz Stood Out
We were first introduced to Guy and Nimrod by our friend Barak Schoster at Battery Ventures. Barak, along with Guy Eisenkot, are former co-founders of Bridgecrew which exited to Palo Alto Networks for $200M. Nimrod Kor worked closely with both of them as a Software Engineering Manager at Bridgecrew where they released one of the most popular open source projects in security called Checkov. Like many great enterprise software companies, Baz was born out of their own pain which was felt most acutely when merging code bases post acquisition and being stuck in an endless game of code review ping pong. It’s been awesome to be on this journey with the whole Baz team as they’ve iterated and now shipped one of the world’s first agents for code review.
With Baz, pull requests move beyond mere text diffing to provide actionable, high-context annotations. Developers gain real insights into how code changes might impact application behavior, reducing noise and focusing attention where it matters.
Baz’s Key Differentiators:
Programmatic Software Verification: Automates code inspections to catch issues in data flows, endpoints, and more.
Beyond Diff-Centric Reviews: Provides inline annotations that pinpoint potential problems, going beyond simple text comparisons.
Application Behavior Insights: Correlates code changes with real-time data streams to highlight downstream impacts.
This approach not only reduces review times but also empowers developers to deliver higher-quality features faster.
What’s Next?
Baz is now available with a 14-day free trial, offering developers the chance to experience its groundbreaking AI Reviewer. For teams ready to transform their code reviews, Baz offers both Pro and Enterprise plans, with advanced customization options.
We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Guy, Nimrod and the incredible team at Baz to reshape the future of software development, enabling a world where developers focus on building rather than debugging.
Welcome to the boldstart family!
