Congrats Generalist AI on $400M raise at $2B valuation
Generalist AI, a robotics startup, has raised $400 million in a new funding round to develop more sophisticated artificial intelligence models meant to help robots handle increasingly complex tasks.
The financing, set to be announced on Thursday, values Generalist at $2 billion, including the money raised. Radical Ventures led the round with participation from venture firms 8VC, Union Square Ventures, Norwest and Hanabi Capital, as well as existing investors Nvidia Corp.and Bezos Expeditions.
Several prominent tech leaders also kicked in funds, including Zoom Communications Inc. Chief Executive Officer Eric Yuan, Xiaomi Corp. co-founder Lin Bin and AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li.
Founded in 2024 by alums of Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics, Generalist is part of a growing crop of companies attempting to apply advances in AI to the field of robotics. The startup’s latest model, called GEN-1, is designed to help robots learn and complete more basic physical tasks.
