Grepr – Next Generation Reliability Platform for an AI-Powered World – Welcome to boldstart!

At boldstart, we partner from Inception with visionary technical founders transforming the enterprise. With the rise of AI and the challenges it introduces, one of the most critical needs is to reinvent how engineers manage the complexity of modern systems. That’s why we’re excited to announce our Inception investment with Jad Naous and the team at Grepr.
We’re thrilled to invest in Grepr’s $9M Inception round with Andreessen Horowitz to revolutionize observability and reliability at scale. With its AI-native platform, Grepr slashes observability costs by 90% with just 20 minutes to deploy and no costly migrations required.
Observability was once a direct path to ensuring system reliability. However, with the rapid expansion of software and the rise of microservices, the value of individual observability data points has diminished, even as their volume has grown exponentially. This has led to a dramatic increase in observability costs without a proportional improvement in reliability.
It’s clear that engineers need a fresh approach—new observability and reliability abstractions tailored to this complexity. With advanced AI, we now have the ability to troubleshoot and heal systems automatically. Grepr’s mission is to redefine the observability landscape, using AI to enable engineering teams to maintain more reliable systems with greater efficiency and less effort.
We first met Jad in early 2018 when he was a Partner at Andreeseen Horowitz where he worked on infrastructure investments. While we collaborated quite frequently on opportunities, we never had the chance to officially partner. So when he pinged me in late 2022 about a new company after his run as CPO of Imply Data, I was 🔥up. To be clear, it wasn’t the right idea at the time, but Jad came back to what he knows best, observability and real-time infra and hence Grepr was born in early 2023. We’re super grateful to be partnered with Jad and Martin at a16z to shake up the observability market for this new AI era! Jad’s unique experience building products at scale led him to reimagine observability by focusing on the behaviors and relationships of system objects, such as containers and processes, rather than relying on fragmented metrics and logs.
With AI at its core, Grepr automatically distills signal from noise, ensuring that engineers have exactly what they need when they need it while keeping all raw data in a low-cost observability lake. The best part is that during incidents or on-demand, Grepr can automatically backfill this raw data to your EXISTING vendor tools, ensuring engineers have full visibility at incident time without the cost of storing everything in your vendor tools upfront.
Why not have your cake 🍰 and eat it too!
Why Grepr is Essential for the World of AI
The rise of AI is fundamentally reshaping system architectures, with AI workloads introducing an entirely new layer of complexity. Modern AI systems require tracking and optimizing performance at a much finer granularity—measuring not just infrastructure and application health but also the behavior of AI models, individual inferences, and their cascading effects on users and systems.
In this new paradigm, traditional observability tools fall short. Static metrics and logs can’t capture the dynamic, interconnected behaviors of AI-powered systems, leaving teams unable to manage the exponential growth in data complexity. This is where Grepr shines.
Grepr’s platform embraces AI-driven insights from the ground up, offering:
Dynamic Behavioral Insights: By elevating behaviors and relationships to first-class concepts, Grepr ensures engineers can pinpoint root causes quickly, even in the most intricate AI workflows.
Granular Observability for AI Workloads: As AI inference demands deeper visibility, Grepr provides engineers with tools to monitor every layer of an AI stack without overwhelming them with data noise.
Scalable, Cost-Effective Solutions: Unlike traditional systems that strain budgets with massive data volumes, Grepr leverages AI to focus on what matters most, reducing observability costs by up to 90%.
Adaptability to AI’s Growth: Grepr’s flexible foundation evolves alongside AI-driven systems, ensuring engineers stay ahead as these technologies transform industries.
As AI becomes central to enterprise systems, the ability to manage this complexity isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s mission-critical.
Grepr’s approach resonates deeply with boldstart’s belief in partnering with founders who tackle massive enterprise challenges with empathy for the end user. Jad’s ability to envision the future of observability while delivering a seamless integration into existing workflows is precisely why we’re thrilled to join him on this journey.
Looking Ahead
Grepr’s mission to elevate observability is just beginning, but the impact is already profound. Engineers can try Grepr and in 20 minutes reduce observability costs by >90%!
