Superhuman Raises $75 Million For Its Waitlist-Only Email Productivity App led by IVP
Superhuman day one journey with boldstart
When Superhuman CEO Rahul Vohra agreed to meet with former Dropbox CFO Ajay Vashee’s venture capital firm IVP about an investment in his email productivity startup, the entrepreneur had one condition: no group presentation. For many startups, pitching a VC firm’s partnership during its Monday meetings is a rite of passage. Vohra said he’d meet with each and every partner to talk about Superhuman one-on-one instead.
“I hate coming into the office, being in a boardroom and saying, ‘Here’s my deck,’ pounding the table about ‘rah rah rah,’ my vision. I’m not an American founder, I’m a very understated British type, personality wise,” Vohra says. “That’s just my culture.”
Vohra’s way took many more hours – Vashee admits IVP is unlikely to make it standard for every startup it sees – but it paid off, as Superhuman has raised a $75 million Series C funding round led by IVP. The round, which included Tiger Global and personal investments from the CEOs of Discord and Dropbox and a bevy of others, values Superhuman at $825 million, according to a source with knowledge of the transaction.
